Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Scoreboard ("Scoreboard," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account info. Your email address, used to sign you in via a one-tap email link. We do not collect or store passwords.
• Profile info.Your name and, optionally, your handicap index. Names are visible to other members of any trip you're part of.
• Trip content. Information you or your group administrator enters: courses, tee times, player rosters, handicaps, hole-by-hole scores, group pairings, bets, and payout status.
• Support communication. Anything you email us at support@scoreboardgolf.app.

Information collected automatically

• Device and log data. Standard server logs (IP address, user-agent, timestamps) for security and reliability.
• Diagnostics. Crash reports and basic performance metrics, used only to fix bugs.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity on other apps or sites.

2. How We Use Information

• To provide the Service — sign you in, sync your scores, settle bets, and show standings to your group.
• To send transactional emails — sign-in links, trip invites you initiate, and account-related messages.
• To fix bugs, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure and reliable.
• To respond when you contact support.

We do not use your information for advertising, sell it, or share it with data brokers.

3. How We Share Information

With your group

Your name, handicap, scores, group pairings, and bet results are visible to other players in any trip you're part of. That's the point of a shared scorecard.

With service providers

We rely on a small set of vendors to operate the Service:

• Hosting & database — Vercel (app hosting) and Neon (Postgres database).
• Email delivery — Resend, used to send sign-in links and trip invites.
• Realtime updates — Ably, used to push live score updates to every player in your trip.
• Authentication — Better Auth, our open-source auth library; runs on our infrastructure.

Each vendor only receives the information needed to perform their function and is contractually bound to protect it.

Legal reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Scoreboard, our users, or others.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account and trip data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal account information and disassociate your scores from your name within 30 days, subject to backup retention windows.

5. Your Choices and Rights

• Access & export.Email support@scoreboardgolf.app and we'll send you a copy of your data.
• Correction.You can edit your name and handicap in the app. For corrections to scores in past trips, contact your trip's admin or email us.
• Deletion. You can delete your account from inside the app, or by emailing support@scoreboardgolf.app.
• Email. Transactional emails (sign-in links, trip invites you triggered) are required to use the Service. We do not send marketing email.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights including access, portability, and deletion. Contact us to exercise them.

6. Children

Scoreboard is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, email support@scoreboardgolf.app and we'll delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards: TLS for data in transit, encryption at rest with our database provider, scoped credentials per vendor, and short-lived session tokens. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever experience a breach affecting your information, we'll notify you as required by law.

8. International Transfers

Scoreboard is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from elsewhere, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
